REMOVABLE DENTURES

Removable Dentures

If you ever had the misfortune of losing your teeth due to injury, decay, or gum disease, you don't need to worry. We have good news for you today. Dentures are the solution you need for everyday functions, such as eating and speaking. They will also help you gain back your confidence through your beautiful smile and appearance. Whether you need a full set of dentures, or just need to fill in a partial set of teeth-- we can create dentures that will have long-lasting improvements in your every day life.

It takes about 6 to 12 weeks to make dentures, depending on the patient’s gum health, type of dentures, and the technique used by the dentist to produce them. To make a set of dentures, on your first visit the dentist should first take an actual impression of the upper and lower arches of your mouth. Then, these impressions will be sent to the laboratory to fabricate the dentures. On your second visit, your dentist will select the best arches that are suitable for your mouth, as well as the shape and color of the teeth and gums, to ensure they match the natural look of your mouth.

In the upcoming visits, important checkpoints are finalized before the final fabrication of the dentures. The doctor needs to test the dentures to see how they affect the patient’s speech and ensure the suitable appearance and functionality of the dentures' teeth and gums. After the final delivery of the fabricated dentures, a few adjustment visits are necessary for them to maintain a good fit. It takes time for a person to get comfortable with new dentures since they affect one’s eating and speaking habits, and getting used to them will require practice. Just let your dentist know if you need anything to adjust to your new denture set.

After receiving your denture, the dentist will advise you to wear it often for your tongue and cheek muscles to get used to it. Also, wearing your denture will identify the areas that need adjustments. Therefore, you need to revisit your doctor 72 hours after receiving it for any necessary adjustment. The denture takes weeks to adjust perfectly, so it is normal for the dentist to schedule a check-up appointment after 2 weeks.

You may experience a few changes like excessive saliva, sensitive spots and difficulties with chewing in the beginning till you adapt to your denture. These changes will fade when you get used to the new denture, but this might take a few days to few weeks. Some patients might experience biting their cheeks and tongue, which is also normal. Make sure to contact your dentist any time you feel adjustments are necessary.

Please contact your doctor for any further questions or clarification.
